Sedation Dentistry

Patients at South Springs Dental Group can opt to be sedated for any procedure, no matter if it’s a routine cleaning or something more intensive. We have the resources needed to administer sedation intravenously, orally, and with nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

Dreading Your Trip to the Dentist?

Patient who is afraid of the dentistNo hard feelings here. We know that most people don’t love the dentist. We also understand that for some, dental appointments are a major source of stress. It pains us to see patients missing their six-month cleanings due to their fear of the dentist office.

Since routine cleanings are crucial to maintaining a healthy smile, patients who let anxiety keep them away from our office often end up needing more intense treatment than they would have had if they simply came to their regular cleanings.

Patient comfort is one of our top priorities, which is why we offer three different sedation choices for those patients who have a hard time calming down on their own.

Calm Down for Your Appointment Using Our Sedation Methods

If you opt to be sedated for your dental treatment, you can select the best option out of these three choices:

  1. Oral Sedation: For this method you will take a pill prior to your appointment that will help you to calm down.
  2. IV Sedation: We will administer an IV that will put you to sleep for the duration of the procedure.
  3. Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): You will inhale this gentle, invisible gas before the procedure begins. This is the most conservative option and also the only method that allows you to drive yourself home after your appointment.

It isn’t safe to operate a vehicle while you are sedated under any of these methods; however, the effects of the nitrous oxide will wear off in time for you to drive immediately after your appointment. Bear in mind that for IV and oral sedation, you will need to arrange transportation home from the office.
